Sell your Nissan Rogue in Tulsa

To sell your Nissan Rogue in Tulsa, you have two buyers: us, or our partner. Call (539) 271-2021 or fill out our sell page, and a person on our end says whether it's one we take. Or request a free offer from our partner online. Your model year below is worth a look before you choose, since a 2013 and a 2023 Rogue carry very different federal records: the early files lean on transmission complaints, the late ones on an engine recall.

Short answer

On a late-model Rogue, check the engine recall first. On an early one, a failing CVT has no recall, so price the repair against an offer for it as it is.

Rogue complaints shift with the model year

Federal regulators at NHTSA publish two lists per model year: recalls, which Nissan files, and complaints, which owners file. Nobody has confirmed a complaint as a defect; it is what an owner reported. We pulled the 2012 to 2025 Rogue files in September 2026. A report may tag several parts, so totals overlap.

  • 2012 to 2017, the transmission years. Power train complaints rank first or second every year. The 2013 is the extreme: 314 of its 610 complaints name the power train.
  • 2018 to 2020, braking with nothing ahead. Service brakes (253) and forward collision avoidance (161) top the 2018's 609 complaints. The 2019 shows 124 and 99 of 336, and forward collision avoidance leads the 2020's smaller file, 56 of 151. Owners describe the automatic emergency braking stopping the SUV on an empty road or over a drain grate.
  • 2021, the recall year. Only 288 complaints, yet 10 recall campaigns, tied with the 2014 for the most of any Rogue year we checked.
  • 2022 to 2024, the engine. Engine is the top complaint group for 2022 (140 of 262) and 2023 (281 of 716, the biggest file of any year), and ties for first on the 2024 (63 of 201). Owners report sudden power loss, limp mode, knocking and white smoke.
  • 2025, the back glass. Visibility complaints lead once a catch-all group is set aside, and the excerpts describe rear glass shattering with nothing hitting it.

Nissan Rogue CVT problems: what owners describe

The CVT, short for continuously variable transmission, shows up across the 2012 to 2017 excerpts, and the symptoms rhyme from year to year. The revs climb while the SUV barely gains speed. On the highway it can fall into limp mode, stuck at reduced power, often with no warning light. It shudders, or hesitates pulling away. In a 2014 owner's words: “The engine continued to rev, but the transmission stopped delivering power to the wheels.” Some say it recovered after sitting switched off, then quit again later that trip.

No Rogue recall from 2012 to 2025 repairs the CVT. The lone power train campaign, 15V775000, fixes a shift knob on some 2015s that could leave Park without the brake pressed. Our bad transmission guide lists what to ask a shop.

Rogue recalls worth a dealer visit before you sell

Each campaign covers only certain vehicles, so check yours by VIN at NHTSA's recall lookup.

  • 2021 to 2025, engine bearings. Recall 25V437000, on certain 2021 to 2024 Rogues, covers variable compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engines whose bearings may have manufacturing defects; the dealer reprograms the engine software. Recall 26V080000, on certain 2023 to 2025 Rogues with the 1.5-liter engine, warns: “Increased temperatures can break down the engine oil, which may cause the engine bearings to seize and become damaged, leading to engine failure.” Under it, the dealer may also check the oil pan for metal debris and replace the engine if necessary. On 2024 and 2025 models, 26V081000 covers throttle body gears that may break. Nissan mailed letters for all three on April 8, 2026.
  • 2014 to 2020, the folding key. A jackknife key can collapse while you drive, and knocking it can switch the vehicle off. Dealers fit a spacer in the key under 23V093000.
  • 2012 to 2017, water in the wiring. Water, sometimes with salt, can get into connectors by the driver's floor or dash, and each of 15V032000, 22V024000 and 22V875000 names a fire risk.
  • 2014 to 2016, the liftgate. Hatch support stays may corrode and snap (16V219000).
  • 2021. Among its ten campaigns: rear brake calipers that may leak fluid and a fuel pump that may fail.

A failing CVT or engine: repair first, or sell it unrepaired?

Recall work first. Under 49 U.S.C. 30120, the manufacturer pays for recall repairs. The age cutoff: it isn't free if the Rogue was “bought by the first purchaser more than 15 calendar years” before the notice went out, and all the Rogue notices above went out long before that point. A buyer will ask for the dealer's printout.

A dead VC-Turbo engine. On a 2023 to 2025 Rogue, have a dealer confirm in writing whether 26V080000 is open on your VIN. Do that before paying for an engine or selling with a dead one, since that remedy can include a new engine. If it isn't open, our engine problems guide is the next stop.

A slipping CVT has no recall behind it. Get a written estimate on yours and set it beside what the Rogue would fetch as it stands, using our repair-or-sell worksheet. Failing door locks, which turn up in excerpts from 2015 through 2021, are the kind of fix small problems sizes up.

What a Rogue offer depends on

  • Model year and miles, the starting point.
  • How it pulls from a stop and holds highway speed. That is where a tired CVT shows, and where a 2018 or 2019 may brake on its own.
  • Recall proof. On a 2021 or newer, buyers ask about the engine campaigns, and a dealer printout showing they're done settles it.
  • The title. Clean, still under a loan, or carrying a salvage or rebuilt brand: each one widens or narrows the pool of buyers.
  • Condition. Whether it starts, hail and body damage, glass, tires, and whether the doors and liftgate work.

Two buyers for a Tulsa Rogue, one set of Oklahoma papers

Our own offer. We buy some Rogues ourselves, wherever you are in Tulsa, and when we do, the payment is a check. Give us the year, miles, how it drives and any recall letters by phone at (539) 271-2021 or on the sell page form. If it's not a fit for us, you hear that on the same call, with the partner link. Title or keys missing? Those Rogues get a look too, though not every one gets an offer from us.

The partner's offer. Peddle's offer is online and free, and you owe nothing if you pass on it. Start it here. Pickup is Peddle's to book and pay for. As for payment, “Peddle issues payment immediately by check” when its driver collects the Rogue. Peddle's paperwork list: your title, your registration, and ID such as a driver's license.

The Oklahoma papers. Service Oklahoma asks for a title that is properly assigned and notarized. Any vehicle from 2011 or newer, which is every Rogue on this page, also needs an odometer disclosure. The title's assignment usually carries it; when it doesn't, Form 729 does. Every other Oklahoma step is in the paperwork guide. Cash for cars compares our route with the partner's, and the loan guide covers a Rogue that isn't paid off.

Short answers for Rogue sellers

Can I sell my Nissan Rogue before the engine recall is done?

Yes. You can phone us or start the partner's offer while the recall is still open; tell us which letters you've had. If a 2023 to 2025 Rogue is already showing engine trouble, ask a dealer first whether 26V080000 applies to your VIN, since that remedy can mean a replacement engine.

Is there a recall for Rogue CVT problems?

Not in the 2012 to 2025 recall records. The single power train recall there, 15V775000, is a shift knob on some 2015s. No recall pays for a slipping or shuddering CVT, so price the repair in writing before choosing between fixing and selling.

My 2018 Rogue brakes by itself. Will that hurt the sale?

Service brakes is the biggest complaint group on the 2018 and 2019, and no Rogue recall covers the problem. A buyer on a test drive may feel it, so bring it up yourself. It doesn't stop you from calling us or asking for the partner's offer.

The back window on my 2025 Rogue shattered. Should I replace it first?

That's up to you. Reports of rear glass breaking on its own show up repeatedly in the 2025 excerpts, but no recall covers it. Mention it either way, since glass counts toward the car's condition.

The title is lost and I have no key. Is the Rogue still worth a call?

It is. We look at Rogues with either one missing and tell you straight whether it's one we'd buy; if not, the partner route is there. Oklahoma's replacement title process is on our lost title page.
