Sell your Toyota Corolla in Tulsa
Call (539) 271-2021 or send the form and we'll tell you whether your Corolla is one we buy ourselves, or request our partner's free online offer. Either way, look up your model year below first: a 2012 Corolla, a 2020 and a 2024 Hybrid each carry different recalls and owner complaints, and a buyer can look them up as easily as you can.

Short answer
Clear any air bag recall first, even if the part is back-ordered. The coolant valve and clutch repairs are yours to pay for; weigh them against an as-is offer.

Toyota Corolla problems in the federal complaint file
NHTSA, the federal highway safety agency, publishes the complaints owners send it, by model year and by the part they blame. Each is one owner's account, not proof of a defect, and a year that sold more cars draws more of them. The counts below, read in September 2026, include the Matrix, iM, Hatchback and Hybrid, which NHTSA sometimes files by name.
- 2012: 446 complaints, the most of any year, and 370 name the air bags. Most concern the inflator recall below, and many say the dealer had no parts when the notice came.
- 2013 to 2017: the air bags lead every year, named on 56 to 73 complaints a year. Owners of 2015 and 2017 cars also report peeling paint.
- 2018: 142 complaints. After the air bags, fuel system parts come up most: engines that shut off in slow traffic or won't restart after a fill-up.
- 2019: 203 complaints, led by the power train (55) and the engine (39). Many power train reports come from manual hatchbacks whose clutch pedal stuck to the floor; owners blame the slave cylinder.
- 2020: 309 complaints, the highest since 2012. The engine is named on 108, most describing an Engine Maintenance Required message, sometimes as the air conditioning comes on. Owners say shops traced it to the coolant bypass valve.
- 2021: 185 complaints. Air bags lead with 52, many about the passenger sensor recall and a part not yet available. The engine message follows with 40.
- 2022: 103 complaints, spread thin, with clutch reports again.
- 2023 to 2025: 73, 65 and 33 complaints. Steering is near the top for 2023 (16); brakes lead 2025 (8).

Open recalls on a Corolla, air bags first
A recall is different: the maker names a safety defect and sets a repair. The Corolla campaigns to check:
- 2012 and 2013, passenger air bag inflators: several campaigns replace inflators that can explode. Which applies depends partly on where the car was sold or registered; the summary of 19V005000 lists Oklahoma for 2011 to 2013 Corollas.
- 2012 to 2019, air bag control unit (20V024000): in certain crashes it may malfunction and keep the air bags from deploying.
- 2018 to 2020, fuel pump: the pump in the tank can fail and stall the engine. 20V012000 covers 2018 and 2019 Corollas; 20V682000 the 2019 Hatchback and the 2020 Corolla.
- 2019 Corolla Hatchback with a CVT (18V901000): torque converter blades may come loose and stall the car. Dealers replace the CVT and torque converter.
- 2020 and 2021: a short in the passenger occupant sensor can stop the passenger air bag from deploying (23V865000). The 2020 also has a rear seat belt recall, and the 2020 Hybrid a brake booster pump recall.
- 2023 and 2024, steering shaft (24V878000): the intermediate shaft "may fracture and possibly result in the shaft detaching from the steering column." The 2023 also has a column cable recall that can switch off the driver's air bag, and a follow-up for cars that may have been repaired wrong.
- 2023 to 2025 Corolla Hybrid (24V708000): a software fault can cut power brake assist in a turn. Dealers update the software.
Not every car in a year is included, so check your VIN in NHTSA's recall lookup.
Under 49 U.S.C. 30120, the maker "shall remedy the defect or noncompliance without charge when the vehicle or equipment is presented for remedy." The one age cap: that duty ends for a car first bought more than 15 calendar years before the recall notice. It counts to the notice date, not your repair date, and every campaign above was issued well inside it.

The coolant valve and the clutch: repairs you pay for
Book any open recall before you list the car: it costs you nothing, and a buyer's VIN check would show it open. Keep the repair order.
The two standout complaints on 2019 to 2022 cars are another matter. Neither the coolant bypass valve nor the manual hatchback's clutch slave cylinder is on NHTSA's list of Corolla recalls, so the repair is normally your bill. A few 2020 owners mention a Toyota customer support program for the valve, so ask a Toyota dealer to check your VIN before paying a shop.
Get the diagnosis and quote in writing, then set it next to an offer for the car as it sits. If the repair eats most of what a fixed car adds, selling it as is usually wins. The engine problems guide covers warning messages and cooling faults, the transmission guide covers a clutch or CVT that quits, and the repair-or-sell worksheet does the arithmetic.

Things that change a Corolla's price
There's no dollar figure here: nobody can price a car they haven't seen. An offer is how you find out, and these move it:
- Which Corolla it is. Sedan or hatchback, gas or Hybrid, CVT or manual: each has its own recalls.
- The exact mileage. It goes on the odometer statement anyway, so give the real reading.
- The paper trail. Recall repair orders and receipts for a new coolant valve or clutch answer questions before they're asked.
- The title. A clean title in your name is the easy one. A salvage or rebuilt brand, or a loan that still holds the title, narrows who can take the car.
- How it looks and runs. Hail dents, peeling paint, warning lights, and whether it starts and drives.
Sell my Toyota Corolla: who buys it in Tulsa
Call (539) 271-2021 or fill in the sell-it-to-us form with the year, the version, the miles and what's wrong. We buy some Corollas ourselves, anywhere in Tulsa, and pay for those by check. We also look at cars with no title or no keys, though not every one is a car we buy, and if yours isn't, we tell you.
The other route is our partner Peddle. Its sell-my-car page calls the online offer free and no-obligation, and says Peddle sets up the pickup and covers what it costs. When the car is collected, "Peddle issues payment immediately by check." It lists the title, registration and a driver's license or ID as the papers to have ready. A completed sale that way pays this site a referral fee; cash for cars compares the two routes. Toyota and its dealers have nothing to do with this site or either offer.
One Oklahoma rule touches every Corolla here, since all are 2012 or later. Service Oklahoma says: "When transferring ownership of a motor vehicle from 2011 or newer, a completed odometer disclosure statement is required." Usually it is part of the title assignment; when it isn't, Form 729 does the job. A few 2014 and 2015 Corolla complaints come from buyers who say the mileage they were shown was false. The paperwork guide walks through the notarized title and the rest.

Corolla sellers' questions
How can I sell my Toyota Corolla while a recall repair waits on parts?
You can still ask for offers. Tell us or the partner which recall is open and that the part is on order; the form has a notes box for it. Owners of 2021 Corollas reported that wait on the passenger sensor recall, and many 2012 owners reported it on the inflator recall.
My Corolla shows Engine Maintenance Required. Is there a recall for that?
Not on NHTSA's list of Corolla recalls for 2012 to 2025. Owners of 2019 to 2022 cars link that message to a failed coolant bypass valve. Have a shop read the code and quote the repair, ask a Toyota dealer whether anything covers your VIN, then compare the quote with an offer for the car as it sits.
Which Toyota Corolla problems should I tell a buyer about?
Whatever you know is wrong with yours: a warning message, a clutch that sticks, a recall still open, paint that's lifting. Write it on the bill of sale and hand over the repair orders. A buyer who looks up the year will read the same file you just did.
The clutch pedal on my manual Corolla stays on the floor. Can I sell it like that?
Yes, you can ask for an offer. Call with the details and we'll say whether it's one we buy. If not, the partner's offer comes with a pickup Peddle arranges and pays for. No Corolla recall on NHTSA's list covers the clutch slave cylinder, so price the repair before you spend on it.
Does the Corolla Hybrid have its own recalls?
Some. The 2020 Hybrid adds a brake booster pump recall, and the 2023 to 2025 Hybrid a brake assist software update. The 2023 and 2024 steering shaft recall covers the Hybrid and the gas car alike. Run the VIN either way.
What to do next with your Corolla
Run the VIN for open recalls, write down the mileage, then call (539) 271-2021 or use the sell-it-to-us form. If it's a Corolla we buy, we make you an offer and pay by check. If not, the partner offer costs nothing to request and you can turn it down.
